Many of your business owner clients have incurred various expenses in manifesting their dreams of owning their own business. Consequently, business owners are consistently searching for ways to create tax deductions without diminishing value and benefits for themselves or key employees.

Business owners desire to differentiate themselves not only with their customer base, but also as an attractive workplace for employee candidates.

This course will provide instruction on defined benefit plans for the closely held business owners. It will compare plan options, review design options and demonstrate why these plans are often paired with a 401(k) plan. The session will also review important IRS issues, the impact of adding survivor benefits, and required administration and suitability.

This course will help you to:

  • Understand the value of defined benefit retirement plans
  • Distinguish the types of defined benefit plans and determine how each is appropriate to a given business scenario
  • Determine the critical issues in funding these plans
  • Discuss funding options including cash value life insurance
  • Become familiar with recent IRS guidance on the regulations surrounding defined benefit plans

Wine and cheese networking event to follow.
